Wedding day Checklist: Bridal Details

I am so excited to take you through the different photography related parts of your wedding day over the next nine weeks and share all my best tips and tricks for a smooth and stress-free experience with you. Let’s start at the very beginning!

The first things I photograph when I get to your venue and after giving you a big hug are all your pretty details. They will be the first images you see when you open your wedding gallery and they not only honor all the small but important items you chose to include but they also set the tone for the rest of your gallery. Below is a detailed list of all details you want to include along with answers to all your questions about this very first part of your wedding day.

BRIDAL AND GENERAL DETAILS:

  • Invitation suite (preferably unused)
  • Rings + ring box (engagement ring and both wedding bands)
  • Your Wedding Dress + a pretty hanger
  • Your Veil
  • Your Shoes
  • Your Jewelry (bracelet, necklace, earrings)
  • Accessories (garter, hairpiece)
  • Perfume
  • Vow books, letters to each other
  • Family Heirlooms (handkerchief, jewelry, something blue)
  • Your Bouquet and other floral accessories (flower crowns, corsages)
  • Loose florals – this will add so much to your gallery

If your GROOM’S DETAILS are important to you, here are the most common ones to include:

  • Boutonnieres
  • Cuff links, tie clip
  • Watch
  • Bow tie / tie
  • Shoes

WHAT DETAILS ARE OFTEN FORGOTTEN BUT WILL MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE IN OUR IMAGES?

  • Loose florals! I know they aren’t really part of your details but simply ask your florist to set aside a few extra blooms and greenery just for your detail shots.
  • A pretty hanger for your wedding dress! Get a pretty gold one or a custom one with your name, your dress deserves so much better than the plastic hanger it came on.
  • A pretty ring box in your wedding color. Not only does it look pretty in pictures and ties in your wedding colors but might also be a sweet heirloom to keep for you! I personally love the many options of the Mrs. Box.
  • WHERE SHOULD THE DETAILS BE WHEN YOU ARRIVE AND WHAT’S THE BEST WAY TO HAVE THEM READY FOR YOU?

Make sure that all your details are in one place when I arrive, preferably in the bridal suite. Remove the cover from your wedding dress and replace the plastic hanger with a pretty one, put your shoes and your bouquet below it or on a table close by along with a closed lid box that has ALL your details in it. Not having to search for all the little items will save so much time and will also make sure everything is in one place when it’s time for you to get ready.

WHAT SHOULD WE AVOID WHEN IT COMES TO THE DETAIL PART OF OUR DAY?

Anything that could possibly eat up time!

    • Only include details that are very important to you. The list above is a good place to start but you certainly don’t have to have all of those if they don’t matter to you.
    • Make sure to remove all tags from jewelry, shoes, your dress beforehand.
    • I can’t stress this enough – keep all your details in one place and avoid having your details scattered all over the place.

I hope this blog post was helpful to you as you are planning your wedding and are preparing for a relaxed and stress-free wedding day!
